Safety Tips For Shopping Online

The potential of e-commerce is being unleashed every single day. From home, you can buy a wide array of products and not have to worry about a thing. The shops are brought to your living room by the power of technology and there is nothing greater than this. However, nothing comes perfect and even the best of technology can let many a shopper down. However, to avoid different pitfalls, you need to be empowered with tips that can guide you on how to shop safely online. It takes a little precaution to make sure that the products you order reach you as you desire. This article gives you the details on safe electronic commerce.

Shop at secure sites

Secure sites are those that use encryption technology to transfer information. This discourages efforts to hack in to get your credit card details. There are several things you can look at to recognize a secure site and they are as follows. First, you can look for the letter ‘s’ right after ‘http’ right at the top of your screen on the address bar. Therefore, a secure site will read ‘https://’. Another way to tell a secure site is to look for a closed padlock at the bottom of the page. If it is not closed, it might not be secure. Finally, you can look for an unbroken key on the page.

Do Some Homework

Before you decide to place orders online, make sure you know everything you need to know about companies. Those that you are not familiar with should be scrutinized accordingly. A good site has nothing to hide and you should access vital information to make your decision. Going about it blindly might not yield the results you desire. Market research is crucial for the customer because it will facilitate fair business and fair prices. There are many platforms to research sites including online yellow pages, government agencies and the like.

Know the policies

A few customers take time to read secure and privacy policies of a company and this bit is pretty crucial. This way, you will get to see how they deal with information you give them and whether it suits your needs. You need to read these policies often because they can change from time to time. With this all set, you will make choices that can work just as you want them to.

The mode of payment

The best way to do it is through a credit card because it is secure. Many things can go wrong with other methods and you need to be above the water when there is a problem. Shop at web sites that facilitate this and accept what you are comfortable with. With e-commerce, you should never give out your social security number because it is not a requirement. Also, keep your password private at all times.

There are so many other things to consider when shopping online but the above are fundamentals that must be in place.

An Eco Friendly Home Business – Is Shopping Online Green?

Shopping Online is probably one of the easiest things to do once you get the hang of it. So, when I heard that there was a home business that harnessed the power of the Internet and was earth friendly… I was sold. I could do the majority of my shopping online, make money and help the environment! How easy could this be?

Well, the answer is very easy.

My only concern was the issue of online shopping. Is shopping online a green way to go? I did some research and came across a study by the Carnegie Mellon Green Design Institute. It was great and answered my question… Shopping online is green!

Not only is it green, e-commerce consumes close to 1/3 LESS energy than conventional shopping! Not only does online shopping reduce energy use, it has a smaller carbon footprint than the traditional brick and mortar store.

Here is the information condensed.

Almost all the spent energy comes from transportation when dealing with traditional purchases. The average person drives 14 miles for a purchase. The average purchase consists of 3 items. They divided the energy used per item. This is a lot of consumed energy for one consumer and three items! There was also energy concerns dealing with the carbon footprint of brick and mortar stores. The energy these store use just for being open is amazing.

This is where E-commerce and shopping online shine. They used UPS in the studies. A UPS truck has dozens and dozens of packages on the truck. Most of the packages had several items in the box. One truck stops by several households and makes several deliveries on a route in one day. This is where the energy consumption was a third less. (Imagine the gas used if every household went to the UPS store to pick up the contents of just one truck!)

There were two downsides to Online Shopping: Express Airmail and the packaging. Packaging increased the carbon footprint unless recycled materials were used and Express Airmail consumed more energy than regular delivery.

If you want an Earth Friendly Home Based Business, now is the time!

There is a proven formula. There are proven steps. You will or you won’t but… Being Successful at any business requires a great plan.

I will help you avoid the mistakes and set you on a path for success. There is no better time than NOW! Time is the most valuable thing on th planet and it is all yours. Today is your day.
